Summer Solstice at the Gap

This is a picture of sunset at Parowan Gap on summer solstice. Native Americans used the movement of the sun through the Gap as a calendar, and their petroglyphs depict this in great detail. The remains of the summer solstice carin line up perfectly with the setting sun on the solstice.

In my novel, KOICTO, many powwows and tribal meetings take place around this sacred carin.
